INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS.
The CAMSITE program provides the capability necessary to VIEW large numbers of IMAGES generated by IVISTA or some other security camera system. Many image logging programs store one image per second into a single computer folder. When this folder contains even a day's camera images, most image viewers cannot manage the tens or hundreds of thousands of images. Thus, after a few days of continuous logging, the stored camera images become time consuming to view or worse> useless.
CamSite will take the photographs stored in a single Windows 2000, NT, or XP folder and SORT and DISTRIBUTE these files to automatically generated TIME and DATE INDEXED folders with a maximum of one hour's pictures in each folder. CamSite can work on a single hour's camera images OR it can work on multiple hours of images as you decide. There may be some limit as to the number of files that can be moved in a single operation, but we have tested 24 hours of files at 3600 frames per hour and CamSite sorted successfully. CamSite is NOT compatible with Windows 98 and ME.
While any scheduler that can call a BATCH FILE can be used to initiate CamSite, we have verified that CamSite be run hourly via the scheduler program CLOCKWISE. We recommend running CamSite hourly so that execution time for Camsite will be just a few seconds as IVISTA (and other) camera image generation programs may slow down and not scan at the normal rate while CamSite is moving files.
CamSite uses MicroSoft's "dot net framework" scripting language which is the improved version of MicroSoft's VBS. The latest version of "dot net framework" software is available free of charge from the MicroSoft website HERE. Download and install this library file before installing CamSite. This 20 meg file download is all inclusive for all Windows 2000, NT, or XP versions. When you install it on your particular system, the MicroSoft "dot net" installer will install only those files needed in your particular computer. Full details on "dot net" and installation of "dot net" are available HERE.
After you download and install the above "dot net framework" above, proceed as follows to install CamSite.
SIMPLIFIED TRIAL VERSION
The TRIAL VERSION of CamSite <camsitedemo.exe> provides a demonstration of the image sorting capability of CamSite. The trial version is limited to ONE CAMERA, does not require a scheduler program and it does NOT have a) unattended operation capability and b) automatic erasure of files older than XX (user selectable) number of days and c) ability to handle image file types other than *.jpg, and d) the ability to handle multiple cameras or e) the capability to be scheduled automatically. The full CamSite version has all these capabilities.
To install and operate the TRIAL PROGRAM <camsitedemo.exe>, proceed as follows:
Make a directory in your Windows 2000, NT or XP equipped computer as follows:
C:\PICFILES\PICTURES
Then arrange for IVISTA (or other camera software) to store pictures at <say> one frame per second into this PICTURES directory. (Note: Only *.jpg files can be sorted by the TRIAL VERSION of CamSite.). Note: It is necessary that the camera image storage software be designed to continue operating in the event a "busy folder" error occurs during a image file write. IVISTA has this capability. If you operate CamSite and your camera image storage program stops operation when CamSiteDemo is operated, then your system is NOT compatible with CamSite.
Make a directory on your computer C:\CAMSITE and download the CamSite demonstration program <camsitedemo.exe> into this directory.
When you have files in the C:\PICFILES\PICTURES DIRECTORY,
execute <camsitedemo.exe> (enter). You will find that your files
in the PICTURES directory are sorted into directories such as:
C:\PICFILES\dir_MMDDHH (where MM=creation month of *.jpg file,
DD=creation day of *.jpg file, and HH=creation hour of *.jpg file.)
Example: C:\PICFILES\dir_040212 would contain
*.jpg image files created on April 2 in the hour following 12:00 noon.
Another folder: C:\PICFILES\dir_040213 would
contain *.jpg image files created on April 2 in the hour following 13:00.
FULL VERSION CAMSITE PROGRAM
INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The CAMSITE program provides the capability necessary to VIEW large numbers of IMAGES generated by IVISTA or some other security camera system. CamSite will take the photographs stored in a single Windows 2000, NT, XP, Windows 98 or Windows ME folder and distribute these files to TIME and DATE INDEXED folders with a maximum of one hours pictures in each folder. For example, You might have your system set up so that your pictures are stored as follows:
Camera 1 stores images in folder: C:\SECPICS\NEWPARKPICS
Camera 2 stores images in folder: C:\SECPICS\NEWHALLPICS
Camera 3 stores images in folder: C:\SECPICS\NEWCASHREGPICS
Camera 4 stores images in folder: C:\SECPICS\NEWEXITPICS
Your SORTED images would then be stored in directories as follows:
Camera 1 images are sorted by CamSite into folder: C:\SECPICS\PARKPICSARCHIVE
Camera 1 images are sorted by CamSite into folder: C:\SECPICS\HALLPICSARCHIVE
Camera 1 images are sorted by CamSite into folder: C:\SECPICS\CASHREGPICSARCHIVE
Camera 1 images are sorted by CamSite into folder: C:\SECPICS\EXITPICSARCHIVE
Note: In the FULL version, the user can freely choose
filenames but the "new pictures" directory and the "archive" directory
for a particular camera MUST be in the same subdirectory.
